Ruth Andrews Vreeland
Ruth is a California native trained in oils with "trompe l'oiel” techniques ("to fool the eye" with photographic-realism). She transitioned to watercolor in 2009, loving the “play” of the water with pigment. Ruth relocated to NM 40 years ago, acquired an art degree, began a long career as a Graphic Designer, taught graphic design and desktop publishing for a few years, and has won numerous fine-art and design awards, particularly with portraits. She is now a Faculty Member of the NM Art League, teaching realistic watercolor still-life and portraiture to her many wonderful students. She is also a full-time wife, Mom to three adult children, and 7 grandchildren (whom she also teaches her watercolor techniques!) Ruth is a 3-time cancer survivor as well, grateful to wake up each morning with new opportunities for living a full life, feeling blessed every day by the beauty that surrounds us.
